My mom is looking to breed her mare this spring and these are her 2 picks. I am interested to know about the leg and foot conformation of these 2 stallions. For those of you that have offspring by them, are they correct? Or are they under slung? Soft walls? Weak in pasterns? Etc... Any information would be appreciated. We've had some issues in the past few years and correctness is weighing heavy on our minds with this decision. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

I've had multiple offspring from both stallions.  All of them were straight.  I have an ASOF now that toes in ever so slightly on one front foot, but I never saw her momma and it may have come from her.  And the amount of turn-in is so slight, that it's very acceptable.

Under slung heels is a farrier problem. Under sling heels is caused by infrequent trimming, and leaving the toe too long. It can also be fixed on every horse with a good farrier, proper trims every 4 weeks and 12-18 months.

I have only seen one asof in person and he is straight nice feet. Asof can be long bodied.

I have a dinero filly and the only fault I have with her is I wish her feet were a little bigger for her body I bought her as a yearling and never seen the mare so this could be the dams side.

I have a daughter of A Streak Of Fling who is correct in her legs. She is a shade long bodied, not so much that it hurts her.
She has a nice round foot with good wall.
I agree and disagree that under slung heels is a farrier problem. Some horses tend to grow more toe and not as much heel and need to be trimmed correctly consistently.

I've had two ASOF and two Dinero's. All 4 were the same. Straight, correct, good feet. Smaller footed but still great feet.

how did they compare attitude wise and as far as maturity goes?

I still have my Dinero's. Sold the ASOFs. But the ASOF made really nice horses, they just weren't for me. In my opinion neither are the easiest bloodlines, but I just love my Dinero's.

I had a Dinero baby. He was built correctly but was small. At 4 years old he was only 14 hands. He had small legs and feet too. He was also crazy.. most bull headed horse I have ever been around in my life. He broke out fine, never bucked or did anything but as soon as you tried to teach him something new he would shut down. He would lope around the arena and double barrel kick the walls. He was mean and angry all the time. I knew his mom and she was a good sweet horse out of The Ole Man and was a good little horse. I'm not saying his attitude was directly linked to Dinero but I would never own another one.

I have a Dinero baby and love her, more heart and try than any horse I've had, conformation wise she toes a little in the front and a little less in the back, that being said I have only see pictures of her dam in the pasture no real conformation shots so very well could have come from the dam. She has great feet, they are on the small side but she's only 14.3.

Closely read the prior posts because there is a lot of truth in them. They both have produced some winners but have also both produced some buckers. Keep in mind Dinero is by FG and most of them have small feet and are on the small side anyway. If you are looking for bigger size, I would go with ASOF. I have looked at a lot of ASOF colts and most of them have their dam's conformation so be sure your mare is correct and everything you want your colt to look like conformation wise.

Dinero is by Sun Frost not Frenchmans Guy, however Frenchmans Guy is also by Sun Frost. They are both great studs, I definitely agree though to look at your mare's conformation and see what you want to improve and what stud matches that best.

Deniro is not by FG. He is by Sun Frost. They are technically half brothers.

I have a 3 yr old Dinero with great bone and feet. He's about 15 hands and super stout. Dinero babies aren't for everyone but I love mine and have another on the way. My experience with my own Dinero and several others owned by close friends has taught me that they are very intelligent and will try their heart out for you but you have to really earn their trust and not pick at them. They are like the really smart kid in the back of the class that doesn't act like they are paying attention and doesn't do their homework but still makes a 100 on the test. Instead of badgering them about not doing their homework it is best to praise them for the 100 on the test. They don't do well with the "I'm going to show you whose boss" mentality.
