Location: Montana | I'm not really sure how to answer. My first mare took a 34" cinch and she was 16hh, my current mare takes a 32" or a 33" cinch (either one fits) and she is between 14.2 and 14.3 hh, and my gelding takes a 28", but he is a coming 3 year old so I expect him to probably fill out a bit more and he is currently around 14.3 hh (I haven't taped, him, but he looks similar to my mare's size, but he seems taller). :) |

Location: NC | 28. I've used the same cinch on a 16 hand running bred, a 15.3 hand super wide mare, a 15.3 hand narrow bodied appendix and my 14.3 wide set Cowbred. I really could probably almost use a pony size girth on him
I think many people use girths that are way too long. Of course I'm also weird because Ive never used the off billet. I use cinch straps on both sides and I don't use the holes. I loop and swoop on both sides. Makes for a whole lot more adjustment. |

I don't use an off billet either. I use cinch straps on both sides but I do use the holes. Just personal preference. I used to not use the holes but found using them created less bulk under my legs. I use a 30" on everything from my 14 hand TWH to my husbands 16.1 hand race built QH. |

| Anything from a 30" to 36", depending on the horse. I will have to try measuring my horse's using the method described in the link. I have one wide bodied, STOUT mare that I cannot keep a saddle from rolling on. Maybe this will help, but I have me doubts. |
