That's good to hear, well not that you can't hire anyone but everyone is busy, what are y'all offering techs if you don't mind me asking ?

Not at all. They start off at $10.90, like I said, our pay is low, but we do offer full benefits. However, certifications and experience pays. Something like electricity and HVAC background will definitely get you more. Houston/Dallas pays much better. However, we have lots less traffic, not far from barrel racing/roping and cost of living is good. But we are a small town. Sam Houston State is just down the road...good rodeo college, great coach. Texas A&M just west of here, great school too. Not that I am biased or anything.

Living In Granbury and Working in and around Dallas proper is a helluva commute. Not worth it. Granbury is closer to the Ft. Worth area- Dallas would be a 2 hour drive or more in traffic.

Is there a smaller town close to Fort Worth that the commute wouldn't be to far to work in Fort Worth ?

What about Azle? I'm not sure about the commute, but the town is nice, there are barrel races and it's not too far from Dallas. Not sure how far from Fort Worth. I'll ask my friend.

eta: It's only about 15 miles to Ft. Worth and not a horrible commute.

With HVAC you can get a job pretty much anywhere in Texas.
I am the Building Official in Lindale, just north of Tyler.
The development is booming in this area, most especially in residential.

I personally would not recommend working in the Dallas area, the traffic and crime are worse there than your outlying areas.
As far as Austin, I hate it!!! ( nearly died there this year because of the traffic accident) 35 in a nightmare at anytime of day.
It will all depend on just how busy you want to be, if you want to open your own business, or work for someone really.
Tyler is the hub for this area. Contractors have lots and lots of development within a 50 mile radius

Oh I like the Tyler area too. Also not far from Athens. I love that little town. If I could pick another Texas town to live in I'd go there in a heartbeat. Nice barrel racing there too! And the roses up around Tyler. All the horse things to do up there and not just barrels and western. They have driving, hunter/jumper. Nice area.

Not that I have any bearing at all on where you choose lol.

Smaller.  With you the business you are in you might be OK but it is a college town and jobs are usually pretty hard to find there.

There are ropings/ practives  just about every night of the week within an hour.
Lots of ropings in Athens, Grand saline and Terrell.
I dont go as much as I used to though.
Plus, not sure of your age but there is alot of 40 Plus ropings as well in this area.

As some have already said lots of roping and barrel racing in east texas. Many HVAC companies in my area do work in Dallas area. Check out schools also if you have school age kids. East Texas can be hit or miss on a good school district. Cost of living is less in east Texas than say Austin Houston San Antonio areas. My sister lives in ridgeland MS and says that weather land and people are similar to east Texas. Good luck to you!

Are you commercial or residential HVAC? Stephenville is a smaller town, but it is growing. Growth is mostly residential right now due to the college (enrollment is way up). More businesses will follow shortly I feel. We're a little far for a regular commute to Fort Worth and you'd start hating life real soon if you tried to commute to Dallas from here. So if you're set on working in DFW, Stephenville might be a little far out.
