| I board at a small time boarding facility where you're allowed to work your board off between doing chores AM and PM and cleaning stalls. The owner is putting on a "blanketing fee" for those horses who are stalled and need blankets on and off, which is $2 per day. The problem I see with this is half the time the people who are doing the blanketing are me and another girl - but we don't see any of that $62 per month, the amount she pays for chores is the same. I understand she can do whatever she wants because she manages it, but does this seem fair? |

| I understand it's a chore and we're supposed to do it and I don't have a problem with that. I just thought it was a bit unfair that all of a sudden there's an extra $62 per month on my board that she gets to pocket even though the other girl and I are doing the dirty work. I've boarded there for 3 years and she considers me one of the "managers" of the barn. Being a college student, $62 makes a difference. Thank you for the opinions! |

I get what your saying... You are the one putting on the blanket why do you have to pay her the $2. I would be irritated too! |

That would be irritating to have to pay an extra $62 per month to blanket your own horse. Could you pay for only the times someone else has to blanket for you? |

Location: South Georgia | Ohhh, I see what you are saying. You are blanketing your horse, but you still have to pay her $60/month fee. Yes, I do not think that is fair. I'd ask her to exempt you since you try to work off some of your board. |

Ditto. See if you can just keep track of the days you're not the one doing the blanketing and only pay for those. |

Location: Florida.. | it sounded like you wanted paid to do it. You said you don't see that money. ...owner should not charge blanket fee to anyone blanketing their own horses |

| Sorry I wasn't more clear in the original post! I think I'll follow the advice here and ask her if I can keep track of what days I have my horse blanketed. Thanks again for the replies! |
