HATED IT. Her way of teaching is basically to voice very loudly how crappy you are doing in front of everyone and to bash your horse in front of everyone and will then turn around and tell people that your horse is too good to have a crappy rider such as you on it... it goes on and on. She basically makes you feel horrible about yourself and how you ride your horse. She made 3 girls cry as well during the 3 days...

It was years ago and I was still pretty young, and one of the first clinics that I went to, but I did like it alot. At the time I had my mom's rodeo horse that knew his job and I just needed to learn how to ride competitively and I came out of the clinic a better rider. I attended the Sharon Camerillo Classic a couple times, and the last time I went I entered my young horse that I started on my own. He was still getting seasoned but she recognized the hard work I had put in and pointed out how nice of a job I had done and the nice young horse I had. That really made me feel good. She doesn't sugar coat anything and is honest with you.

I went to one years ago.   Was not impressed.   She spent 90% of her time with the girl who hosted the clinic.   We ended up waiting in line for hours to take our turn to go through the exercises.   I didn't leave there feeling like I had improved or learned anything.  She pushes her tack, bits, etc.   I have been to many other clinics and gotten much more out of.   You would be better off spending your money on one on one lessons with an experienced barrel person.

I like her style, she's definitely not a sugar coater but I like that type of teaching and would rather have somebody give it to me straight.

She's rough on you, but I think that is just her. I went to one when I was fairly young, maybe 13 or 14, my mom knew exactly how she was and that is why she sent me, I was a spoiled kid that thought I knew better than anyone else and refused to listen to anyone, so I got sent to one of her clinics and it was an eye opening experience, let me tell you. Came out with a changed attitude and far better rider. Haven't been to one since, not sure I would personally spend my own money on one, there are other clinicians I enjoy far better, but she knows her stuff. If you can't handle honesty and hard core criticism, you are probably better off going to someone else.

I have been attending Sharon's clinics every year for the past 5 years. Last year I took on hosting and am doing so again this year.

Sharon's teaching style is not for everyone. But, I have only found one horse in the past 5 years that her program wasn't a perfect fit for.

As stated above, she doesn't sugar coat anything. She will tell you where you can shave time and what may not be right. Personally, I feel she's the most bang for my buck out of any clinic i've ever taken, but I thrive off of being told where my weaknesses are. I do not want to pay someone alot of money for them to say 'that looks good'. If it looks good, why doesnt it feel good, and why am i not winning. And it if looks good and feels good and i'm winning, I probably don't need to be taking a clinic lol.

No clinician is going to appeal to EVERY single person. I personally didn't get much out of Dena Kirkpatrick (actually I hated every second and could have put that money and time towards much better use) but alot of girls get alot out of her clinics. You won't know if she's going to work for you until you try it :)

I think Sharon places a lot of emphasis on what some people over look horsemanship. I have attended several of her clinics, I appreciated her honesty and she forced me to really look at myself as a rider and what I wanted to accomplish. Her drills work but most of all its the time and effort you are willing to put forth.
