I was looking at that and thinking how it would help me. My cinch is always scooting back no matter what I try. That might hold it. IDK...

It's a breast girth. Not very popular anymore. Usually used on English horses
(but the 5 point breastplate has become the thing to have in the jumper/eventer worlds
).

That style of breast collar is on properly. This design was before the traditional dee rings were put into place as you see today.Sometimes I just want to go back to that style so the breast collar doesn't go into choke mode on my horse. It was happening before you were born...LOL

I attach the breast collar to the UPPER ring of the cinch latigo strap for 2 reasons: a
) I'm old and used to saddles without the upper ring for breast collars and old habits die hard and b
) I feel the pull/strain from the breast collar is more of a forward pull than a downward pull across the withers/shoulder. I don't use a back cinch and I feel this placement keeps the saddle flatter in back than if attached to the upper breast collar ring. Just my opinion. I sure wouldn't crucify anyone for fastening as in the photo.....
