Ok ladies your need your help. I have a barn that is 80 feet long with five stalls that are each 16 feet wide. The stalls have Dutch doors with an overhang that has beams at every eight feet. my question for you guys is the alley that leads out of the Duchy door in the center stall can only be 16 feet wide which will lead out into a bigger pasture. my concern is that iT is not wide enough if a horse tries to roll and also we get lots of snow so more than likely the horse will be in the alley way where it is small vs walking out to the big pasture by itself. What is your thought on a 16-foot alley? also any ideas on how to run the pastors off the Dutch doors to fit all five off the 80 foot building length. I have plenty of space for pastors but I'm having a hard time designing how each horse will get out of there stall with the dutch door and into their pastor any ideas would be greatly appreciated

My horse rolls in a 13x13 stall and is fine.....16 should be more than enough....

I'm confused as to where the pasture is in relation to the stall and the overhang.  Is your barn a shedrow style?  Gable?  Raised center isle?

I had a morton barn center aisle with dutch doors off backside of each stall.. so your doors open to one huge pasture I think you mean? cant you just open the doors and secure open to let them go or make divided areas out side of stall and then small gates to open to huge pasture.

There would be five individual paddocks 1 paddock for each stall. it is a normal barn and a dutch door is in each stall the Dutch Door opens top and bottom the horse can go in and out of the stall from their paddock which leads into a bigger pasture for each horse the overhang I am talking about is just basically a roof that. Comes 10 feet off the roof over doors but also has poles coming down to support the rough which are 8 feet apart that the horse would walk under. sorry it is very hard for me to explain

I understand but I guess dont understand your question? is the 16 ft to small is the question then no its not..for a  center aisle it would be..imho but not to run into stalls etc..

mine but i designed it as a sitting area.. dutch doors come out to it. horses usually werent up there goofing. i had individual pastures from barn so it wasnt same idea

I think you will need to make lanes for each horse to get to his individual paddock if you want them to have free access. The center stall will go straight ahead. The 2 end stalls will have a lane that turns left or right and the inside two stalls will have lanes that are next to the outside stall lanes and go to their paddocks.
