Regular Posts: 69	Any saddle and/or pad advice for your typical thoroughbred built type horse? High withers and relatively large shoulders. Looking for advice on make, any specific trees, bars, or gullet sizes or any saddle/pad combos. Really any information would be helpful. Saddle fit isn't my strong suit and unfortunately I have a more limited budget.

Take a Picture Posts: 12838	I love my Billy Cooks for my high withered, broad shouldered horse. I have two different trees and both fit well. One is a CJ and the other is a Buster Welch. My favorite is the Buster Welch. (Sulfur OK saddles)

Red Bull Agressive Posts: 5981 Location: North Dakota	Well every horse is different. The "typical" thoroughbred is going to be on the narrower side with high withers. There's a lot of room for variation though, especially regarding the width of the shoulders, shape of the back, etc etc. I'm no expert but no expert would be able to recommend a saddle four a horse sight unseen and only knowing the breed. Maybe if you post some good conformation shots someone experienced with fitting will be able to recommend something.

Elite Veteran Posts: 964 Location: Alberta, Canada	I have my 5 year old ottb in a standard tree pozzi right now. slightly wide in the gullet (I have it shimmed) but fits her really nice everywhere else. She'll fill out still. I have her older sister who is 11 and a typical thoroughbred with big shoulders -- she fits an lm nueva perfectly.
