Location: USA | I've tried about 5 times to post a pic and it keeps telling me error and I lose everything I type.
My mares outside front leg below the knee is swollen and hot. It's also tender because she immediately moved her leg the moment I touched it. She's not off that I can tell, but the ground is frozen and really uneven, so it would have to be pretty significant. I don't know why it won't let me post the dang pic. They were running around yesterday. I never saw her slip and fall but it doesn't mean it didn't happen. She does have some scrapes on the inside of the opposite leg, almost like she clipped herself while crossing over. Anatomically speaking, what is on the lateral side of the cannon bone below the knee?

Maybe the picture is too big? If it's too big it will have red text stating so. Or if you are trying to post more than one picture at once it'll give you an error message. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | At least cold hose it for 20 minutes. If you can't do that because of the weather, put some DMSO on it.
Is your horse walking ok on it, or is he limping? Is he area firm or does it feel like it has fluid in it? |

Location: PNW | The extensor runs down the outside of the lower leg towards the front of the cannon bone. Is the bump firm? Fluid, like a water balloon? How close to the knee? She may have just whacked it pretty good too - like how we get a lump when we whack any of our bones.
I agree with cold hosing/icing. Try to sweat it, with whatever your favorite product is. |

|
splint bones run from just below the knee to a little more than half way down lateral and medial sides of the cannon bone. Some splint bones run closer to 3/4 the way down the side of the cannon bone. |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Save the picture to your computer in Documents so you can retrieve it. While there go to view. click on picture you want to use so it is blue. then click on size in the heading. Down size till its under 100 pixel it should say size on bottom of screen if your 50- 50 your plenty small right click ...click save then you will be able to post here. |

Location: USA | Well, the backs of both front legs, just under the knee, is warm. The original spot on the lateral aspect of her cannon bone below the knee is not as puffy anymore nor as warm. I feel more warmth on the back of the leg below the crease of the knee. Ugh. |

| I just took my mare to the vet yesterday for sounds like the same thing but only on 1 leg. swollen below knee hot not really off in gaites I got all the heat and swelling out over the weekend but wanted her checked out and turns out her suspensories were irritated, from some deep ground (he thinks) last week. He is having me "mud" her every night for 2 weeks then everytime after I run her, rope off her basically anything strenous in arena footing. |
