| No, but I know there were quite a few professional athletes (marathon runners) who were banned due to testing positive for EPO. I am not sure if the stuff you give horses is any different...maybe someone here knows more about it. |

Location: Sherman, TX | Epogen the shot for humans causes an autoimmune response in horses because it is made for people. Yes they use it on racehorses until they have an autoimmune response and die....why it is illegal...can cause the blood to overclot or cause opposite effect of a blood builder and make them severely anemic both resulting in death. If you are talking about any of the powdered HORSE supplements with epo in the name, they are safe because they do not contain Epogen.

EPO-Equineβ’ WORKS without containing Epogen, Erythropoietin, EPO or any banned substances on the USEF Drugs and Medication Guidelines or the FEI Prohibited Substances List. Location: Somewhere between S@% stirrer and Saint | Β EPO is expensive. I is good for long distance athletes and cross country riding. It will not benefit sprinting horse because it could cause the blood to be to thick with red blood cells as the spleen dumps the red blood cells onto the blood stream. |

Location: Sherman, TX | You are talking about something completely different... The illegal EPO ( what Lance Armstrong used and other athletes use) is a shot that does build your blood and is illegal for competition use. It causes racehorses to drop dead instantly or slow miserable death it is a SQ shot NOT a supplement that you feed. The supplement industry is making money off of the name of the shot of Epogen by naming their feed thru product the same thing. The ingredients in the feed thru supplement have nothing to do with what's in the shot. The shot EPO is illegal for use in racehorses and USEF because it kills horses. The feed thru supplement is legal as it causes no harm but it is NOT what Lance Armstrong used or other Olympic athletes have been caught using. |
