They are definitely not that wide. The shanks are 6.75 inches long. Did you maybe mix the two up?

They are a standard width mouth piece.

i don't think i mixed it up - here's what it says?:

Derby Bit 6.75" - Snaffle
SKU: BRB-300
This fixed cheek leverage bit is well suited for a finished horse. This shank creates lateral flexion and provides hip control which allows the horse to maintain
balance while keeping their shoulders elevated during turns.

The traditional snaffle has a slightly curved mouthpiece so it is easy for a horse to carry and is more comfortable. This mouthpiece will apply even pressure to the corners of a horse’s mouth.

Mouth: 5 ¾” Cheek: 6 ¾”

If this doesn't work you might look at an English catalogue, like Dover.  They have some wide mouthpiece bits the last time I looked.

If you need a wider mouthpiece, I was told

Get a stick, put it in their mouth like a bit mark the stick on both ends where the lips are, remove then measure.

With that measurement you can call any bit maker and have them make the bit you want.

I had to do this with one horse I owned, I had Dave Elliott build me the bit

Dutton bits or L & W can make wider mouthpieces.
