I do both. And I love the results I get on them. My daughter's mini is in his 30s. He started dropping tons of weight in the last month and quit eating. I thought we were getting pretty close to the end. I had his teeth done and saw no change. I put him on Forco and Renew Gold and now all the little guy does is eat, and he has already put on some weight.

Well Forco is a supplement, meant to be fed with your feed and Renew Gold is meant to replace your grain, not to be used as a supplement. It depends on which direction you are wanting to take your feed program.

Do you feed less per feeding of Renew Gold than regular grain?

Yes! WinWillows says a half pound per job, so what that means is living is one job, working is a job, gaining weight is a job and so on.

I can tell you that when I had my mare on it last year I was feeding her 1 pound. She was getting ridden everyday. She gained muscle and weight and looked amazing!

Β  Well they're going to do different things. I feed a pound of renew gold every morning for the fat, omega 3's, etc. I don't feed any grain. Forco is a digestive supplement so it doesn't provide nutrients, just helps your horse better absorb them.

I feed both FORCO and Renew Gold. FORCO has one job and one job only. It addresses the digestive system. My horse, dogs and myself have been taking FORCO since 2006.

JMO...Every horse is different and I have never fed each horse the same. I feed 2 flakes of alfalfa, free choice coastal, 1# Renew Gold, 2 cups of Beet Pulp and until recently, 2 cups of Triple Crown. I haven't figured out what I'm going to replace the Triple Crown with yet but until then I added another flake of alfalfa.

This is just what I heard, but I understand she feeds some oats in addition for a little extra energy. I don't think this is necessary for the average horse and rider.

There are too many variables as to why some horses do well and others don't, ie; parasites, feeding regiment and schedule or there lack of, riding, ulcers, teeth and so on.

Yes, I had read that Sherry Cervi feeds oats as an energy boost as well.

We feed Renew Gold and Forco with high quality alfalfa. The key with Renew Gold is a good quality hay. Our horses get half a pound in the morning and half a pound at night along with their alfalfa. That is horses that are worked 3-4 days a week and ran every couple weeks on the weekends. Renew Gold replaces grain, we feed no grain whatsoever now and our horses have never looked better. Forco is a probiotic that balances the gut. I know you don't technically 'have' to feed Forco with Renew Gold, but that has worked for us and our horses look amazing and are more focused and work better than they ever have.

Forco is NOT a probiotic. Its a Pre biotic.

Sorry for mis-spelling....i'm on a phone and it put pro when I meant pre...guh. I know it's not a probiotic but apparently my phone thinks it can spell for me.

I can tell you exactly what Sherry Cervi feeds for energy, and where the oat story came from. Sherry called me from Houston several years ago and said that Stingray was too calm and she was not comfortable with that. She did not want her as high on the muscle as she was before but was having a hard time accepting her being so calm. I asked her how she was running, and she said that she was winning it, but wanted to know if I could get her just a little more on the muscle as that was what she was more comfortable with. I told her to add one pound of oats per day to bump her blood sugar just a touch. Since we had room in her digestive system to do this, and get it digested without a disruption in the hind gut, this would give her the attitude change that she wanted. She liked the result, and did that for about a year. This had nothing to do with performance energy, it was simply a way to get Stingrays attitude the way she wanted. This year she has eliminated that one pound of oats. She now feeds 1 1/2 pounds of Renew Gold split into two feedings and good hay as Stingrays total calorie supply per day.
