I'm getting my mare back into shape after our YEAR-LONG break while I was pregnant/recovered from my C section, etc. (P.S. C-sections SUCK); I'm starting her on Renew Gold, keeping her up during the day, out at night and quality hay in her stall. Question 1- should I only feed 1/2 lb while I'm trying to shed the belly? I know it goes by the 1/2 lb per job rule and she will be working, but she's so out of shape it'll be light work for about another month probably. All you Renew Gold feeders, what do you think?
ETA: Those of you who feed it- with it being so much less volume, do you mix alfalfa cubes or anything in or just feed it alone?

I'm starting at a cup a day, (1 lb), plus alfalfa during the day & free range grass all night. Once she's back in shape and running we'll adjust accordingly.

I cup is not a lb.

One of YOUR cups is not a pound, I'm not measuring out 1c, Im'm using an actual plastic cup I bought that does hold 1lb. Should've specified that. I measured it on the feed scale, 1 scoop with the cup I use to scoop it is EXACTLY 1 lb.

How hard are you riding?  We feed one pound twice daily with beet pulp, Equipride and flax.  Alfalfa hay pretty much free choice.  This horse is ridden almost daily and is running often.  This feed has been the game changer for this particular horse.

Imo it all depends on the horse, my "toad" only gets half a pound of RG with light riding, but my horses working hard and hauling to comp's get a pound and a half. I'd experiment with it, and if she doesn't shed weight eaisly start with half a pound and work up as she gets a heavier workload. Ours get a couple flakes of good alfalfa/grass hay, alfalfa pellets, and two hours of amazing grass and their RG.
