Location: Lost in the swamps | Won a BOT sheet and a set of hock boots last year and I see more of a difference in my horses after application. you can feel the warmth under the sheet and know it working. One horse notice his hocks aren't nearly as puffy, and he warms up better. I also have a magnetic sheet and hock boots and don't care for them. I Don't see or feel a difference with them. I have an off brand magnetic sheet though. Looking into pht too.

Location: South | I started off with the BOT quick wraps for my mare after she had a bone chip removed. I wanted them to prevent her from stocking up in during stall confinement plus quicken her recovery time. I can't begin to tell you the difference I have seen with my mare using the products. They work! After my first purchase, I bought the hock wraps, and finally bought the sheet. I use them if not every night, every other night during the week. I believe that these products are keeping both my mares sound, and truly feeling great. I can tell when they have had BOT on, and when they haven't. The heat of the products helps loosen their muscles and also keeps them from getting sore afterwards.

Location: Buffalo, TX | I have a BOT T-shirt for me...my shoulder was in constant pain, so much that I couldn't sleep, I had massage, chiro, you name it, with minimal results...over a period of 3 days after wearing the BOT for 3-4 hrs. a day, the pain completely went away....this was 6 months ago and I'm still 100% pain free, but I continue to wear the T-shirt as often as I can...it was literally a lifesaver for me....

| Is anyone worried about the heat they hold? I have the quick wraps for don't use them much especially on the trailer like the majority of ppl do. I'm scared of all that heat being on the legs for extended periods of time. A few hours before running to loosen them up I understand... | |

Totally following this question....I hope someone answers. I'm afraid to leave quick wraps on during the day for turn out. I'm afraid it will get to hot and do more bad than good. We have a gelding recovering from suspensory injury. I have been leaving them off during the day now that it has warmed up. Also after cold hosing can you put BOT on or wait a couple hours??

Location: California | I have a BOT blanket for my dog lol. He's 16, but it does wonders for him. I noticed him being too stiff at times and not as comfortable. With the blanket, he runs around and moves a lot better.
Now if only I could afford some BOT products for my horse!

Location: Iowa | I always use my quick wraps in the trailer and in stalls overnight...it does not seem to bother my horses at all even in the heat. (But I live in Iowa where 90 is blazing!) The blanket I will not use when it is hot out or they have to stand in the sun for awhile. The wraps have really helped my horses! Does everyone like their hock wraps? I have magnetic ones that I kinda want to trade for!

Location: Kansas | I use BOT on three of my four and can tell a big difference in the two who have been running for years. The third horse gets BOT because I have a sheet that fits him (he wears an 84 blanket and my PHT is not big enough to try on him LOL). My 22 year old actually warms up in a reasonable amount of time after wearing a BOT sheet and leg wraps for a few hours, and my gray rodeo horse is also moving freer and looser after using BOT. Those two did not respond significantly to PHT magnetic products, but my sorrel fruit loop/rodeo horse LOVES PHT so much that I have barely had any BOT stuff on him. I figure why change what works. He literally licks his lips if you walk toward him with the PHT sheet so he must like how it feels. Matt has a couple horses who love magnets, and his Joker likes magnets and BOT so he gets them alternated - BOT before a run & magnets afterwards.
I don't put my BOT stuff on right after a run because I want their legs and bodies to cool off completely from the run before I heat them back up. I'm not quite sure how I'll handle using BOT in the summer, but my plan right now is to put it on for a while, take it off a while, etc., kind of alternating having it on and off. I may even alternate leg wraps & sheets so not all their body is heated up at once. I think the BOT works for those veteran horses because they've got the aches and pains of competing for a decade or more and BOT helps with their chronic sore spots, however minor they may be.

See if its 90 outside and your driving down the road in the summer its hotter in your trailer, especially on their legs. Heat actually comes up off of the road. I know some trainers that will put ice on top of their shavings if they are in an older trailer. Some of you might have some fancy air flow but I do not.
I mean i'm very particular about how long leg protection is on them. I don't put it on until I run and it comes right off after. I want to minimize the heat in the leg. I've seen ppl throw the back on track wraps on right after a run and I just cringe.

I haul in a stock combo trailer and unless they're in the front stall (solid escape door in front of the horse) the air flow is pretty amazing thanks to the openings all along the top & on the back. My horses are not usually nearly as warm getting out of that trailer as they are getting out of Matt's much "nicer" Exiss LQ. The front stall in mine is pretty toasty though so if I'm not full, I leave it empty in the summertime.

| I don't get the Texas heat or anywhere close
86F I have used the quick wraps, and if the horse has an injured area, I have noticed some sweating in the affected area, if the horse has no known injuries, their legs have been dry and same temp as their neck, rump etc.
Horses are able to thermoregulatie themselves, if you are using just the quick wraps, you are not going to increase their body temp.
You have to remember blood does not stay in one place, so with the back on track, it reflects the heat back causing vasodilation bringing in more blood to the area to rid the area of toxins, then the body takes it away, including the heat.
I have bot nylon rain sheets, since these are not breathable, I don't use them in hot weather, if I have been late pulling blankets off after a rainstorm and it has gotten hot, I haven't noticed any more sweating under the bot versus a normal rain sheet.
I swear by bot, I had one mare who cut her hock down to the bone, she wore one quick wrap for 6 months continuously it kept the edema out of the entire leg, not just where the wrap was.
During the 6 months I did try to take the bot off and within 30 min her entire leg blew up double the size, I would put the bot back on and within a few hours her leg returned to normal size.

I'm worried about the increased heat on tendons and how it affects them long term. Β I agree it could be good for rehabbing an injury by bringing blood to the injured site for healing and that for "warming up" the muscles pre race or workout it would be benefical, but I'm scared to leave the wraps on for extended periods.Β

They tell you to not leave it on for "extended periods" (24/7). I use the quick wraps overnight in stalls bc my gelding tends to stock up and the BOTQWs COMPLETELY eliminate it. The heat they create isn't drastic, legs get warm, not HOT. Every horse is different and needs them for different lengths of time. My gelding would live in his 24/7 if I let him, but I dont. I've never had him even break a little bit of a sweat with BOT on, and I have the complete outfit for him. I think concerns over hear production in mild weather are zero.

If you go to their website, they have thermography pictures on horses legs, prior to bot, and after use, and I was surprised when I first seen it as the entire leg had better blood flow, lower heat, and no hot spots according to the pictures.
I suggest take a look, and if you are worried about it, either don't do it, or have a thermoscan done after 24 hrs
