My friend needs help
Playing the Waiting Game

Becky called and asked me to find her answers. When I googled it all I got was basically one... SO I'm asking ya'll here... Her horse has had a small cancer growth on his lower eyelid that her and her vet have been monitering and on occassion froze the area to remove the sore. It appears as a small scab on his lid. The last time she had it froze was last spring and it appears to still be gone.
What her problem is BOTH his eyes seem to water all the time. She keeps a flymask on him 24/7-365 So we pretty sure not FLY related.. What I found on google was plugged tear ducts and she needs to have them flushed. Her question was is it common for BOTH to get runny at the same time?
He's an average healthy paint horse with quite a bit of running blood and a bald face, thus the fly mask. Not overweight not thin.
OR what have you experienced...

I have been told that runny eyes can be a sign that something may be up with the liver. My horse had runny eyes and I put on an immune support herb, I think from Silver Linings and it really helped. I called Silver Lining and they were really nice and helpful.

I have also had good luck with Standard Process. They also have an equine line and a vet to answer questions. They were equally helpful. I think they are more whole food based. We use the human products, too.
I wanted to add that Animal Element is a good detoxifier. I have used that on a horse that got into cattle feed and I know it saved his life. But she should also talk to the girl who sells THE on here. There products have worked really well also.

When I worked at a cutting ranch we had a grey gelding develop runny eyes at the same time. He was originally treated for an infection with neo-poly-bac with no change. The vet then flushed his tear ducts and tah-dah! All gone.

It don't cost much to have them flushed and it doesn't hurt. Some times they get debris in the ducts from the nose. Have it done and the horse will love you for it. I use an ointment for my horse mostly fly related. And yes both eyes can run.

Paints seem to have those issues more so then not..
dust or anything could still get in mask.. Id have vet check to see if they need flushed.. allergies could also be a culprit for runny eyes..
