I am needing some ideas for keeping my daughter's pony saddle from sliding forward.  I haven't tried a crupper yet (mainly because her saddle doesn't have any place to attach one).  If I can't come up with a home made fix, I will get crupper rings added.

But are there any other home made things I can try before adding a crupper?  I have a tight back cinch, but even with that, if the pony drops her head more than a few times the saddle ends up on her neck.  She's a 39" mini with NO withers.

Could you rig a breech strap hooked to the cinch rings?  Like a backward breast collar.  It would also need a strap over the rump to keep it in place.

Saddle britching.you know like a harness around the butt.A crupper will work if the pony don't take to bucking. Since its a mini a short cinch will work you just need something to hold up in place for the britching.

The only thing I've found that has helped is to dry lot the pony and pull some of the extra weight off of them...and set the saddle farther back to begin with.  When Captain Jack starts getting chubby his saddle runs forward too, when he's more fit it doesn't move so much.
