Anyone ever go from healthy edge to senior ? For weight gain / filling out ? I have a 5 yr old mare that is in healty edge right now , 7 lbs a day. She looks pretty good , but I feel her butt/ hips could be fuller . Would the senior be better for that? With the higher protein ? I know she isn't a senior .. I don't care about that . My 8 yr old is on the senior bc that's what she likes . It does pretty good for Her & she's a very hard keeper . I'm just torn on what to do with the 5 yr old ! Anyone else have similar experiences ?

I just put my 6yr ulcer horse on it. She's tall and lanky. She really likes the taste of it. She needed weight and she is already picking up. So far very pleased with Active Sr by purina.

You started her on the regular senior ? Or active senior ? I love the look of the active senior but mine would not eat it

Went from HE to Sr Active on my 20 year old gelding cause I thought his topline could look better. Love the difference it made. He's slick and sassy and shining like a new copper penny. If I wasn't tech challenged I'd post pics!!!! But since you have issues with the Active I wouldn't hesitate to use the regular Sr. Good luck

Add weight builder that you get from TSC or most feed stores. Mine was on healthy edge when I got him and he was pretty lanky and awkward looking.. Put him on weight builder and it was the magic combo for him! Keeps him shiny and helps build muscle!

You can PM me with any other questions! I swear by this feed and have been feeding it for 4 years.

Anyone else have any experience with these two options ? I've been giving healthy edge a try for a good 60 days now & the 5 yr old still isn't filling out all the way ... I guess I'm seriously going to the senior now !

I bought a horse that came with a bag of Healthy Edge. He would walk away from it. Switched him to a locally milled senior feed and he has filled out like none other. It's awesome.

You'll want to get a higher fat content more so than the protein. That's what fills in the gaps. My feed is 10% fat and all of mine do awesome on it. They love it and they look fantastic

Purina has never been a favorite of mine. How my new guy despised the HE kind of sealed the deal for me. No bueno. Lol

We fed Purina Healthy Edge. We put two of our senior horses on the Senior Feed. We switched them back, because we didn't see any differences. We have one that is a hard to put weight on, but after a year of good feed and supplements she has finally filled out like we would prefer. Our's do great on the Healthy Edge. They have shiny coats, good feet and good mane and tails. We've been very happy with it for several years.
