everything I own LOL.
I don't go to a lot of 3-4 day races but I do rodeo and I spend most weekends barrel racing around my boyfriend's hometown so I have gotten pretty good at packing for several day trips.
  • Grain - enough for 1-2 extra feedings. I store mine in a big tub and keep supplement jars and a feed scoop in there.
  • Hay - I figure 1/3 to 1/2 square bale per day for each horse. Also take a tarp to cover hay in the bed of the truck or in a stall of the trailer - keeps shavings off of it
  • Hay bag for each horse
  • Water bucket for each horse
  • At least 2 other small buckets for grain, with bucket straps so I can feed them at the trailer
  • Feed pan for every horse except my gray who is too messy and has to eat out of a bucket
  • Every bridle I could ever possibly need
  • Same thing for bell boots & polo wraps, also keep a pair of front sport boots and neoprene skid boots in case I need to get one ready quickly
  • Duck tape, baling twine, cotton string, electric tape, pocket knife, scissors
  • Diapers, Underwoods, Magic Cushion, Bute, Banamine, Calming paste, Air Power, Clearex, Ventipulmin, Sore No More liniment, poultice
  • Standing wraps & no bows, Back on Track & PHT leg wraps & sheets
  • Fly sheets & boots if its summertime, winter blankets & coolers if its winter, both if its spring/fall or I'm going to Iowa. LOL. (seriously I had to wear a coat up there in August a couple years ago)
  • Extra clothes for me - I always keep a complete change stashed in the trailer (I don't have LQ so my clothes bag is usually in my truck) in case something weird happens and I suddenly need to change FAST.
  • Books to read in my spare time - my Nook is the greatest thing ever for this.
  • GPS in case I get lost

A grass bale a day per horse (unless hauling more than 2 horses then I don't plan for that much hay but if I can fit it in the trailer then why not bring it...I would rather have too much than too little and I have been in a situation where I used more hay than I had planned for so I try to avoid that...lol)
1/2 alfalfa bale a day per horse
Enough grain plus an extra feeding.
Supplements (Forco and magnesium)
Electrolytes
Banamine
Bute
Syringes/needles
Bandages and any other vet supplies such as gauze and wound care
Rubber bands
2 water buckets for each stall plus 1 bucket for at the trailer
2 15 gallons water jugs filled with water from home to have at the trailer at all times
Waterproof blanket and fleece cooler
BOT quickwraps
Soft rides
PHT stifle wraps
Extra halters
Treats :)
Of course brushes, saddles, pads, boots, etc.

I like the list above, I try to bring double of everything just in case. I also have a tool box as my first aid with anything I could ever possibly need. I also have a jerry can of diesel for the generator or truck, as well as simple truck/trailer tools and fluids for the truck.

Everything you use on a daily basis.... Keep everything the same, try and make it the same routine as at home. Feed the same, at the same time, try and allow the same amount of turn out time(even if that's just hand walking), and for us we take our own water because it's well water and my horses take a few days to start drinking tap. I don't take anything outside the ordinary day to day things. If they are going to be stalled the entire time and they're not used to(non of mine are) I pack things that I might need for stocking up and make sure I have enough Bute & Banamine with me, etc. I already keep extra head stalls and reins in my trailer but if you don't, grab some and put them in there, you never know when something might get broken.

Go through your day and get everything ready at that time, in the morning mix up 4 days worth of grain and supplements when you do the chores, same goes with the evening (I put them in gallon bags and label am & pm, then I just have to dump and go). when you go ride stop at the trailer and untack there so you know you have it all in the trailer. Bring your bag of wraps and you'll be ready to go.

I keep a back pack full of equine first aid supplies

Bandage materials, cotton sheets, telfa pads, breast pads (works great for feet) vet wrap, standing bandage
Scissors
Saline
Magic cushion
Poultice clay
Poultice pads for feet
Thermometer
Stethoscope
Needles and syringes
Nitrofurizone solution for sweating
Saran Wrap

Banamine
Bute
Ace (use to drop blood pressure for stone bruises as per directed by my vet)
Ventipulmin
Powdered antibiotic, I like to keep a 4 day supply
Antibiotic ointment

Iodine
Epsom salts

Hoof knife
Rasp
Nippers
If I have shoes on nail pullers, hammer, and nails

As for feed and water

I make sure the place I am going to has water, if it is not easily accessible I carry my own water supply, I have three tanks totalling 125 gallons

Hay for 4 horses I will carry 6-8 bales
Hay bags
Water buckets, feed buckets
Feed, I measure everything at home and mix it up and put it in feed bags, I like to take 2 extra servings for each horse
Back on track blankets
Back on track no bows
Back on track quick wraps

Brush bag also includes Chicago screws, hoof pick

Support boots each horse has their own
Plus one extra set
Saddles
If only taking one horse, I take an extra as I have had one break while running, if more then one horse I don't worry
Saddle pads each has their own
Shims
Bridles, warm up and racing each horse has their own
Extra halter and shank

Clothes
Racing clothes, hat cowboy boots
Pyjamas, I take a pr for each day as I feed in mine
After race clothes

Underwear
Always a few extra bras as I don't want to be braless if one breaks
Extra underwear
Extra socks

I have a LQ trailer so I keep all the essentials in there
Shampoo conditioner
Face wash cream
Tooth brush and tooth paste
Dental floss (I actually keep some in my truck too)
Face cloths
Towels
Hair brush
Elastic bands

Food

I know I have forgotten stuff but this is the basics

It would be easier to hook up to my barn and house and take them than it is to pack for my crew but since that isn't possible.... Anything you use daily of coarse. And if you think there's even the slightest possiblility you will need something, take it. I would rather have something and not need it than need it and not have it. I keep a lot of clothes in my LQ trailer but I don't always use that trailer so I keep extra clothes in the truck in the pockets on the back of the front seats. I also keep a bag with different wound care/health care supplies in my truck. We pack enough human food to feed the army and always take enough feed and hay for ever how many days we will be there plus 2 extra feelings for the horses. You will one day forget something or like me... I find something I've forgotten at every show we go to. I used to stress if I forget something but now I just brush it off and buy or borrow what ever it is. Only twice have I forgotten something major but due to my over packing I had an extra. And the other time I was in way too big of a a hurry and was running late. Got half way to the barrel race and relized I had forgot to go load my horse.

The first thing that I make sure that I have is US Rider.

Feed and feed scoop...hay, packed in bale bags. Any meds that my horses need. I keep a first aid kit for horses and humans in the trailer. Apple picker. Saddle Pal is a life saver. Of course my dolllie and muck bucket.

My tack and boots stay in the trailer.

Nippers and rasp stay in the trailer.

I have a jacket and coat in the trailer year round.

Rain gear.

Really about the only thing I have to pack for myself is my own medicine and clothes because most things are already in the trailer.

Often we go for a week and I throw in shavings for the entire time.
