You need a biopsy to know what is causing this and how to treat it.  Allergies need Dex of lots of fly spray, thread worms need ivermectin, internally and topically.  There are so many causes and cures, what you need is an accurate diagnosis before you can help her.

Calangelo - 2015-05-12 11:38 PM I got this spray from my vet last month because we're trying to avoid putting my gelding on regular steroids. So far so good. ย I spray it on the areas where he tends to rub (head and neck) and rub it in with my hand. http://www.kineticvet.com/products/equishieldibh-spray.php. ย They make a salve and wipes, also. It was about $46 for a bottle.
I would like to order this online somewhere. Do you need a script for it?

I don't think so, but it may be one of those things that they only set up vets as distributors. ย I got it from mine.

I found it on allivet and valley vet no script for $21 and $26

I couldn't find it on Allivet, and the one on Valley Vet is a same company, but different product. It's not the insect bite hypersensitivity formula. Bummer! I was hoping to find it cheaper than what I got it at my vet for.

I have found that a fly sheet helps as much as anything. I am going to order a fly mask with ears too. The best and most durable fly sheet I have found is the Mio Fly Rug. It has the neck extension. I do keep fly spray on her belly. That is what works best for me.

luvinit - 2015-05-13 12:01 PM Yes. My horses would range from hives, to being so itchy that they rubbed themselves raw!! This is the second summer we have done this and this year we started a month early and so far no itching or raw spots at all. Last year very little itching. Major difference. We will continue once a month until September.
Does it help to repel flies as well? Herbie I just can't make myself pay that money....YET LOL I probably will at some point lol

I called the company about my itchy colt and they said that because he is young and healthy right now (3 yr old, coat is great, just starting to itch and cough when he first lopes) all they suggest is to put him on the Curost Green for now.  If I order two months worth that is about $65 a month shipping and all.  We may need to put him on the Total Support which is more money but they don't think he needs it right now.  It would be worth giving them a call because it may not cost as much as you think.

I had a mare years ago that had allergy issues and I learned the hard way that long term corticosteroids was not a road I ever wanted to go down again.  This seems like a much safer option if it works.

Yay, i'm so glad you called them.  Truly the best decision I have ever made for my horse was putting him on this product.  It has eliminated the allergies and cough, which is what I initially purchased it for, but has improved him in so many other ways as well.  I no longer have a crabby, ill, hateful horse but one who is happy, isn't flinchy through his stomach and body sore.  The results I have had are nothing short of amazing!

I have tried the other supplements that we like to talk about on here previously on him, and he was on some of them when he got so sick.  This is the only thing that has shown any improvement and i'm just blown away!  I'll never be without this product on this horse!
