Horsemen aren't willing to say "no more" and back each other up when a particular feed causes problems for others if they themselves aren't having an issue. I was feeding Nutrena. I never had a problem. A Cargill plant is literally in my back yard. It wasn't ionophore free. I stopped giving them my money. I was told they had gone ionophore free so I went in and asked. I was told "we don't use them in our bagged feed but we use them in our bulk feed". Sorry but that isn't a good enough answer. I refuse to support any feed company that makes unsafe feed, even if I myself have never had an issue. Because a feed mill is only as good as their worse employee. Feed companies need to protect ALL horses, not just a few due to the location. Off my soap box now.
