Don't say those words! I drink water almost exclusively but do love my morning cup of coffee. I used to drink energy drinks a LOT but I've almost completely eliminated them and pop. The only time I slip up is around 2-3 at work when I'm bored and sleepy.

I have major muscle issues in my upper back, even ended upIin physical therapy for it all. If I didnt go to a chiro once a week I could barely function.

I eat as healthy as possible, stretch, am active and ice like my chiro tells me too. I added Thrive by Le-Vel and that helped me immensely! I in turn had energy and less pain so I joined a gym to help even more.

It's funny how we all treat our horses for any little issue but seem to ignore our own problems.   I don't have much advice but I definitely feel for you.  I suffer from periodic sciatica and almost constant shoulder pain.  I have been to physical therapy, chiro, massage and nothing has been much of a permanent fix.  I worked a desk job for 10 years and the pain has gotten much better since I now work from home part time.  Our bodies just weren't designed to sit hunched over a keyboard all day.

I was also diagnosed with an autonomic disorder and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia (POTS) about a year ago which is something I had never heard of.  One of my prescriptions along with meds was exercise.  I have always HATED to exercise and even though I don't necessarily enjoy it now, it does seem to help reduce my overall pain.

I have not been very vigilent with watching what I eat but I know that would help.  I take curcumine which is said to reduce inflammation although I can't really tell any difference since starting it.  I would also suggest trying a TENS unit - I love mine and use it all the time on my shoulder muscles.  Hope you get to feeling better!

Have you tried a regular steriod injection? I rutpured a disc in March and had severe, and I mean severe, sciatic pain in my left leg as the debris was inflamming the nerve root. I tried PT, epidurals, pain medicine and nothing seemed to work. I could barely walk and was on bed rest, though even laying down could cause pain. I finally had a meltdown with the doctor and he gave me a regular steroid shot. I've been 28 days now completely pain free :)

Also, what about yoga? If it is just a tight muscle problem, have you tried it for the stretching benefits?

I had knee pain and shoulder pain and back pain from the time I turned 13 up until my 30's! I quit drinking sodas and anything with caffeine in it and started only drinking water. It solved about 80% of my pain!!! I stopped eating junk and sweets and processed foods also! I think some people just can't handle junk like others! I know I can't!

I was in your same situation about 8 years ago. I had a desk job and have had knee surgery on both of my knees from basketball injuries. I was recommended massage by my physical therapist. I have been getting regular massage every other week since then. I realized really quick that this ended up being less expensive than all the doctor visits .. I go to a local massage envy (they are everywhere). I have a couple different therapist that I go to there. If you find one that does a lot of stretching, that really helps me. (I would also stretch on your own every morning)

Like everyone else is saying, drink lots of water and watch what you eat.

Well I've been almost completely sugar and caffeine free since you guys recommended it on here. I had been researching it and wanting to get started, I just hadn't quite gotten there yet. I went out and bought a ton of healthy whole foods and the only things that have any sugar (that aren't straight fruit) is honey, natural salad dressing, and the darkest chocolate I could find (88%). I've been so good but did break down and have a mellow yellow today because I forgot my water bottle and was DYING and all we have is a pop machine. I haven't weighed myself but I can see/feel a bit of a difference. My knees also feel the best they've felt in a long time. They may get bad again with this bad weather coming up (they usually do) but so far so good! Hopefully it'll start working on my back soon. I've started getting the WORST headaches in the back of my skull from the tightness in my neck/back.

Deep tissue massage has really helped me and my SIL. I have neck/shoulder pain and she has deep muscle pain from really tight over worked muscles. It was uncomfortable even a little painful but 4 days out and I have no pain. I did lift weights yesterday and sore but even that is different. Instead of knots of pain, the whole muscle is sore but nit painful. My neck isn't popping and pinching either.

Yeah the "I worked out hard" kind of soreness isn't bad. I don't mind that at all. Mine are deeply knotted and I'm just about salivating thinking about deep tissue massage lol. I was going for massages once a week, but that worked out to $200/month which was just too expensive.

Buy the book Wheat Belly. Game changer. Get your knees injected and start walking 10,000 steps a day. Just walk. Then go home and do 100 sit-ups. Do push-ups.

The radiographs of my back look dreadful. This time last year, I was in constant agony. Last fall, I found Wheat Belly. This spring, I started Couch to 5k. Today I'm in the best shape of my life and still a ways to go. Guess what? My back doesn't hurt. At all, EXCEPT when I sit on the floor too long. I'm starting weight training tomorrow. I'm a lot further than I thought was possible, but it's taken most of a year.

You've got to stabilize your pelvis, and that is only possible with muscle tone. You've got to do something about this. Start with Wheat Belly. It will change your life.

I have had a pedometer for a few months and get to 10,000 steps or more most days. It rained last night and my knees didn't hurt and usually weather changes will bring on more pain so that's a good sign. I think with more time and continuing to eat well and exercise as much as I can my back will start to improve. The fact that my horse has been unable to be ridden since last fall didn't help with the exercise either. Now that he's starting to improve hopefully I can start riding him soon and I've seen some yoga workouts targeted to riders which is awesome.

SG. - 2015-05-19 1:10 PM Until you address the root of inflammation, throwing the kitchen sink at it isn't going to work.  Goodness knows I have went threw lots of kitchen sinks until several board buddies got it through to me.

You have to have  health gut.  That is first and foremost.  So you need to take the necessary steps to get a healthy gut.  If your joints hurt, you need to look at footwear.  Flip flops are the ruin our of feet.  You need good supportive footwear.  If you need to loose weight then do it.  Yes I had every excuse in the book.  But no more.

Cut the sugar.  Cut processed foods and grain.  BUY the book and study it  It works.

Your horse is no different.  I had some missing puzzles on my horses.  Then I learned about the feed problems  Changed feeds and my horses health improved. Yes I have some pretty crippled horses and they are maintained by our products and proper feed

Amen SG.
