A week ago I had posted about needing rescue for a female pitbull that was going to be euthanized. I foster dogs regularly but Bella had shown extreme aggression toward other dogs and I didn't want to risk my dogs life...Anyway, the shelter called and said none of the adopters had followed through and when the vet got back from lunch break, Bella would be euthanized. They said if I wanted to take her and try to find her a home on my own they would let me. I prayed, cried, stressed and in the end didn't know what to do. As the vet was on her way to get Bella to euthanize her and we were saying our good byes with much of the staff crying, especially one she had bonded to, she hugged me and looked at me and I knew I had to try.
I took her home, put a muzzle on her while she met my dogs and 10 minutes later, she was interating with them, even my little one, what a relief. Even better, the very next day, the most PERFECT family called on her, I called their references, vet and had them fill out an in depth application I made. I've received several updates since then that she is doing wonderful with kids, other pets and they absolutely love her. I am so glad I took a chance on Bella and gave her a new shot at life.

Here is a link to a video of her with my dogs. There is nothing quite like saving a dogs life! Thank you to all those who adopt and rescue out there! :)

I hope that you don't regret this decision someday. If this dog showed aggression once it will come back someday. There is no reason to have a dog like this if there is any chance of a child ever coming in contact with it.

She was never aggressive with kids, only other pets at the shelter, I think it was environmentally induced. She actually was gentle with them. Once she got out of the shelter setting and got socialized, she was fine with them. the house she lives in is with an older guy and his son. No other pets and no kids. They were visiting his friends when she was around kids and other pets but does not live in a house with either. They are experienced dog owners as well so I think she will be just fine.

^^This.

Because my neighbors pitt had only shown minor aggression towards his yard mates my dog is dead today.  When he made a break from his chain link yard, the aggression he exhibited towards my dog, on my porch, amounted to ripping his throat out before my husband could get out the door.  Thankfully it was not one of the other neighbors kids or grandkids.

Well.... I think it is a great story. Bella is beautiful and deserves a good home. She can't help what situation she was put in to. I'm glad her new family is enjoying her. Thank you for helping her.

What a great story!  Glad that you took a chance on her and she is now living in a wonderful home.  And sorry I have to say to those that had to point out the negative; Seriously!  Why can you not just find joy in the fact that someone took a chance on a dog that was basically out of chances?

I'm not a pit advocate. I could care less either way.

If this dog were a heeler, would you be saying the same thing?

Beautiful dog,  Glad she got a home..
I would like to note I have had more aggression issues with my working dogs heelers, aussies, then with my mom's pit. She has only got aggressive when my dogs (aussie and heeler) have gone and ganged up on her trying to bully her.

First of all, I am terribly sorry to hear this, I can't even imagine. I don't wish for anyone to have to go through that. I did want to point out though that Bella has no bite history, she really does interact well with kids, slows herself down and is gentle. She was surrendered due to her owners getting a divorce, she was very stressed, scared and depressed living in a tiny kennel for over 2 months. I don't think because her owners got a divorce and didn't care about her anymore she should die for it. Many dogs ALL breeds act aggressive or do funny things at the shelter, it's the environment, the stress.. I'm almost sure my blue heeler would snap if he was in a shelter setting. Just wanted to point that out. The reason I was so picky with where she went was so they would be responsible with her and set her up for success.

DLV I didn't mean to think bad of this dog and I am glad that you found a home for her and gave her a chance. I just didn't want her around any kids because they can aggravate a dog like that.  Since we are guessing how much aggression she showed towards other pets.

She is a pretty girl, and she's been blessed by God putting an angel in her life and helping find that forever home for her. I have nothing but respect for you and what you do for these animals---God bless
