Im in need of a new saddle for my one gelding.  He's an appendix QH (whose built like a thoroughbred).  He's very narrow down his back, but he has very wide withers/shoulders.  The saddle I have is hurting him...but I have no clue where to start in a search for a new one.  Suggestions would be great!!!

I would start with a double j pro. A pro rider has lots of flair and will fit a narrower backed horse as well. The double j pro is my favorite though!

Contact Meleeta Brown. I have a gelding like yours and her saddle was a perfect fit. She has 2 different trees, and a demo program that is really easy.

I tried a Double J Pro on my gelding that sounds like yours (very skinny back with WIDE shoulders) because I thought it would fit him, and it sat way too low on his withers/back. Didn't fit either one of us well, but it for me it could be me, I'm used to my Courts barrel saddle that I'm currently using on him because it fits him better, not great...he's not in pain and it doesn't roll on him, so that is a plus.  So, I'm interested in hearing the suggestions on this post! I'd LOVE to try a Sibley, but haven't been able to find a used on in my price range. I've considered using a treeless saddle too. I don't have the money to buy a new saddle every week, LOL. Sorry, didn't mean to get OT.

Call panther canyon. I got extremely lucky and after i called to see if he had any in stock, he called me back to tell me he had actually just gotten one in. Very reasonably priced and he re-painted and adjusted the gullet for me. Love the saddle, unfortunately my horse is now out for a while due to stifle issues

Thanks guys...

The sadlde I have is a flex tree...fits my wide as a barrel gelding fine.  But this one, i think its pinching....and it hurts.

Im very picky as far as how a saddle fits me also, so between my pickiness and his fit issues, this isn't going to be a fun search!  LOL....

I love my Tod Slone.  I tried an Ammerman, Double J, Marlene McRae....finally went back to the Tod Slone and it fit the best.  Mine also has tall wither with the space behind.

I've actually thrown a Bob Marshall on mine but I myself don't like it.  Seemed to fit ok, nothing drastic stuck out to me.
