| Ummm... Separate them. You could put where she could still see her, just not get to her. |

Location: Anywhere my horses are ! Lost in Texas!!!!! | I had them separated. But then I had problems with Tequila kicking and got hurt. I just can't believe the things these two come up with. Have you heard of this happening with horses. I understand if it was a younger horse. |

Location: Home....Smiling M Farms | The only real option is to seperate them. I know you said the one kicked and hurt herself, you'll have to set up a place where she might be less likely to hurt herself. Lots and lots of wet saddle pads, get her mind on work and off her friend. Is this older mare her dam? |

Location: Anywhere my horses are ! Lost in Texas!!!!! | Do horses that lack confidence ever get to where they are not so dependent on other horses. I have worked a lot with Sissy to let her know it is okay. I ride as much as possible between all the rain we have been getting. |

| I have a gelding that did that kind of when he was younger. The lady that owned him, bred her mare, and she got my gelding. She didn't have a lot of land, and didn't divide her pasture when she should have weaned him. She sent him off as a 3 year old for 6 months to get broke. That was the first time he was weaned from his momma. In 6 months, when he came back, he went back out in the pasture with his momma, and went right back to nursing. Didn't stop until he got sold as a 5 year old when my ex bought him.
He has always had anxiety/separation issues. But, he never did try to nurse on anyone else. Maybe because he was pastured with all geldings, but he is very much attached to the two mares I have now. |

Location: Kansas | Sounds like maybe late to wean? My grandmother has a 2 year old gelding that will still try and nurse mares, only because he wasn't weaned until he was a year old. |
