Transportation (my truck and my trailer) to vet, approximately 50 miles one way, then time spent at the vet, then drive back home?

Is this for a friend? Are just someone that needed a horse hauled and you really dont know them that well?

I would just get them to pay for the fuel. I have hauled others horses to help out and most the time they would buy me lunch and pay for the fuel that we used.

Look up hauling rates and think about what your time is worth.
I charge .50 a mile after 15 miles you could charge for gas if you wanted to it depends on if you want to profit. For mobile training. And maybe $12 an hour for just waiti g and not handling if yoi handle maybe like 15 an hour during vet visit.

Helping a friend, I wouldn't charge anything.

Habitual I would probably charge for fuel and maybe an oil change on my truck.

This would not be for a friend but as a service to provide for those without a truck and trailer. I wished I had the time and money to do it for free but there is wear and tear on my rig and my time. I was just trying to get an idea of how to charge, be reasonable and still help some folks out.

I work for an implement dealership. I realize its not exactly the same, but for a simple service call we charge 1.80 per mile, hauling which is semi and trailer is 2.75 a mile, so maybe something in between would be reasonable for a pickup and horse trailer. Than can charge a flat hourly rate for yourself, 10.00?

If you are charging, make sure you have business insurance instead of personal insurance on your vechicles

This is correct. Personal insurance will not cover an accident if you are charging to haul.
