If you're having trouble keeping weight on an older one ultium growth and alfalfa...i have 1 hard keeper bully bullion daughter throws the best foals but eats like an elephant and looks like an antelope lol..but alfalfa and ultium growth keep her perfect ...free choice grass hay too...the rest of mine get renew gold til last trimester then I put em all on ultium growth cause that's what I want my babies getting first 4 to 5 months and it helps keep the mares from getting sucked down while nursing...

Ha!  Love the elephant-antelope comment!  I, too, have an aged broodie who can eat the house down and still not look great.  She's on 20 lbs of the Montana alfalfa daily, plus 10 lbs or so of a high fat low carb pellet with 1/2 c rice bran and 1/4 c soy oil daily, plus 4 flakes of timothy daily, plus out on almost 2 acres of my best pasture.  She actually looks the best she ever has this summer, but still her topline is a slight ridge instead of crease.  She's actually gained in the past two months - which I'm thrilled with since that's the most milk-producing time of lactation.

I have a big older mare and she gets feed and loose minerals. This year we have had plenty of rain and there is a lot of grass. If there is not much grass she gets a flake of hay morning and night. As for feed she gets 6 pounds morning and night. I would give her Platinum but she will not eat it.
