Location: PA		My 13 yr old gelding was just diagnosed with high ringbone in front left. Does anyone have any experience with this and barrel racing? Vet is suggesting surgical fusion, anyone have any experience?

Location: PNW		My gelding broke his right hind P2 and developed arthritis in his upper pastern. He made his first run back after 9 months of recovery last Friday and is 100% sound on it. He is on a Pentosan regimen as well as injection every six months or so. It's a bit bigger than his other pastern due to some soft scar tissue that formed but it's sound and healthy and all healed up.

Location: Lost in the swamps		High ringbone is more" favorable" than low ring bone since the p1 and p2 are a low motion joint. Eventually he will fuse on his own, But it's a slow painful process. There are 2 ways to fuse sergically, and alcohol fusion. Surgical they drill into the joint and make the joint lay down bone, alcohol is injected into the joint and "eats" the cartilage exposing the bone for fusion. From what I've heard and seen fusion injecting takes a little longer and is excruciating! If you can afford to sergically fuse.
