I have a 12 year old gelding not wanting to rate the first barrel and get lunging in the alley way. My question is, my friend suggested this bit to help me with rate and possible his attuide in the alley way. He is not hurting has a awesome 2nd and 3rd, just horrible 1st, and im a small person. Any thoughts on this bit?

This is what I use as my competition bit, it has alot more rate and stop then my twisted dogbone practice bit. I use it on my chargy horse, and it helps a ton. If you do end up using this bit make sure you get him used to it and use extremely light hands. Good Luck :)

Yes, I use this on my mare and love it. I switched her to it after going to an Ed Wright clinic. She was getting strong on me in the turns. I like and appreciate a super light horse, you do need to have light hands with it. I still can get bend with my mare but I need to keep my hands forward like Ed teaches to get that. You can probably google youtube for Ed Wright and find some demos.

"the pretzel is a ported snaffle if you will so you still get nice flex from it, if you use your hands correctly.
