If the saddle fits wonderfully in all areas of the horse without a pad on, then why is it that my 1" pad ain't working when we ride (leaving inconsistent dry spots)? Should I go ahead and try a 3/4" pad? I'm under the notion that my saddle fits my mare and I'm just needing to go with a pad less thick than 1".

Dry spots are usually an indication that it is too tight - if the saddle truly fits then the pad is much too thick. Try a 1/2" pad.

Your pad is too thick. If you're saddle fits a 1/2" pad is all you should need.

They are correct! Too thick a pad can take away from good fit! Like wearing 2 pairs of socks with your shoes. Restricts blood
flow and makes it uncomfortable!

I agree with the above and would try a 1/2" pad
