I have bought a TF treeless for my gelding I'm having "fitting" issues with and now I'm trying to find a pad to go with it.
I've had 5 people tell me 5 different things and now I don't know what to get. I've always owned tree saddles and used wool pads (best ever/wade pad/bio fit) so now I need to see what others have used and suggested with hands on.
1- chiropractior said 1/2" wool
2- reinsman dealer said no wool they slip
3- 5 star suggested a 7/8" -1" thick because of the no tree use thicker
4- circle y suggest 3/4"-1" wool
5- local lady said the thinner the better so you don't defeat the purpose of treeless.

I've ridden him in a 3/4" wool and he still seemes "****y"
I used a OLD thinner around 1/2" pad idk what it's made out of or where and who it came from. Lol but he rode great with it. No tail swishing, hoping, fighting or anything.

I use 1/2" pads with my Jackie treeless saddles, one Saddleright and one 5 Star. The thinner pads keep it from rolling because the saddle fits closer.

If your horse rides better in the 1/2" pad, then he's trying to tell you whats working.

I agree, the thinner the pad the better. I use a saddleright pad with my TF saddle. Also, make sure you go with a much shorter cinch. Like a 30 inch.! I use a professional choice neoprene cinch. Good luck :)

I bought a saddle from Tammy and she said to use an Impact Gel because the gel pads would compress with the tightening of the girth and hold the saddle on.   I did and I had to cinch it really tight.  Since I normally ride with a loose cinch, it kinda bothered me.  I tried it with a Tod Slone pad and still had to go tight.  For one of my horses, a simple navajo blanket seemed to be the solution and the others I used the Impact Gel.  I sure like riding in that saddle.
