So, I think you're greatly improving!  What a way to go in just a short while.  BUT, if you watch your most recent run, where the video is from the 3rd barrel, when you lean into the turn she struggles away, almost like she's a flag at the end of your hand.  As others have said, slow work, making muscle memory of "two hands to point A, sit butt in saddle (asking for rate) go to horn lightly guide with outside leg and "scrub" the inside of the horse with your leg, keep butt in saddle encouraging horse ahead, not faster, finish and guide to the next point"  should be what you're thinking.  You lean a lot and I think it's feeding into your horse, sit up straight with the horse between your legs and your shoulders square, if you ride quiet she will run that way too-I'm betting......you're in a hurry-which I think is what the leaning means and she gets in a hurry too (and a little wild)

Awesome thank you!
Its been such a big change for me going from always training and doing slow work to actually going out there and doing it!

I agree with what LMS said...and wanted to comment that we don't need to rush anything when we add sped....do as the muscle memory you've been practicing does. If you get too rushed in your turns (leaning forward at wrong time) your horse can start to panic and not place their feet as effective....could cause bowing out or cutting off barrels. Best of luck!

Yeah, I really just need to learn how to ride one in a run. I'm so used to doing slow sork and such that even going to the horn is awkward still. I used to team rope, just took up barrels when I started training this horse, so running barrels was absolutely nerve wracking the first two times and now that I'm over that it's just learning to help my horse and not be a passenger.
I appreciate all the advise :)

The finals of the series i was attending were Sunday, no buckles or saddles or other awards for us because we worked our way from bottom of the 3D to top of the 2D, so all the points I had were spread out over the two divisions leaving me out of the running for anything. Not that I expected a whole lot for our first season running, I was beyond impressed with the 2nd in the 2D money, and didnt need anything more than that.

This is our run at finals.... I rated her too early for first, and kicked her around second which she apparently didnt understand lol

Really good job!  Nice horse, you're going to have so much fun!

I'd really concentrate on sitting up straight & forward, no leaning into the turns....on the 2nd your hand gets pretty high and far back.  If you'll work to push it forward and up her neck, you'll get snappier faster turns.

You're doing great!!

 She looks fun!!!

I agree with sitting up--just sit quiet and let her work; she seems to know the drill.

You might come at the first in more of an arc; that way her pocket is more on the backside and she won't have to bow out to exit the first barrel.

Nice job!!
