| Does anybody have a newer 3/4 ton gas burner that they pull a trailer with? I have just about had it with diesel repairs! |

Location: Tx | My sister and I both pull with 3/4 ton gas trucks. We love them, my husband pulls our fifth wheel camper and big trailer with his diesel and although I know his truck is getting more wear and tear, it is getting a ton more money dumped into it for repairs. He works on the wind mill farms so he pulls the camper to live in and the truck has had 50k miles put on it this past year compared to my truck which got about half that.

Location: Midwest | Yes, a 2012 F-250. Have about 80K miles on it (Mostly not towing) and so far so good. It hauls my 2H gooseneck with a large dressing room like nothing is back there. |

Location: KS | I wouldn't go from a diesel to gas. You'll lose the towing power, I guess if your not pulling all that much it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but fuel mileage I don't think is near as good on 3/4 gasers compared to diesels. I run an 06 duramax, honestly I don't think Ill every trade it off, I don't haul a whole lot, use it more to help husband haul cows. Its got a programmer on it, and egr deleted, get 21 or so going down the highway. And lots of power. My husband is all Ford, I grew up with a family of duramaxs' (My Dad runs 2, Mom has one, 2 our of 3 brothers run them), still can convince my husband to try one, once a ford man always a ford man. He still lets me drive what I want but not without me hearing about it.
I don't know what year of chevy your running but the early 2000s have injector problems. Honestly the 06 is a better pickup. I haven't been around the new ones, Im sure they run good, but you get into all the DEF maintenance when you go new.....along with a pickup payment. :) |

Location: Tx | ^^^ Agree. My husbands diesel ('06) is the one that he has put 50k, it had 69,000 miles on it when we bought it, on in the last year and they are all highway and most of them towing something... We do love his truck and they are pretty easy to find. I love my gas but I only haul the trailer once or twice a week and only within an hour of me.
Here is a pretty easy to follow article that compares the two. http://www.worktruckonline.com/channel/fuel-management/article/stor...
ETA- My husbands diesel also has a programmer and gets 21 to 24 mpg. It drops to about 18 when he is hauling our very large camper.

Location: NC | I had an 05 gas burner that got traded in for an 06 diesel. its like night and day. Fuel wise i was putting $75 every 2 days in the gas truck in comparison to maybe 70 every week/week and a half. Yes my diesels more to repair but my gas truck was up there in miles and the check engine light was coming on when pulling |

Location: KS | I agree with everyone else. Towing with a gaser will cost more $$ hauling than Diesel's. Plus Diesel's have more torq and horse, so less stress on motor, which SHOULD cause less problems. Diesel's are more expensive to work on, but IMO it's worth it in the long haul. |
