I have both and definitely prefer the FX3. In my experience, it fits horses better
(no shimming required
). My mare that needed a 9" gullet in the Crown C and had to have shims only needs a 7" gullet in FX3, and it fits like a glove with no shimming required. It also seems to fit my other horses better than the Crown C, and I much prefer the way it rides and the way it
positions me.

I really like my FX3 but the seat is too small for me. I like how it
positions my body and legs, and it's comfortable. The Crown C tips me forward, the FX3 puts me square on my horse.

I have both, and both fit further back on a horse than other barrel saddles. The FX 3 is a more secure feeling saddle if that is what you need. My horses use an 8" gullet in both.

Just found out this year that the crown c seats have been changed this year the 2015 models so you don't get tipped forward.
I have a 2014 and a 2015 and I hate the feel of the 2015 crown c, so it is going back to get a 2014 tree put into it

My daughter talked to the guys at Just Horsing Around Tack at their booth at Elite last month. She compared the Crown C with the FX and they said the C would tilt her pelvis more forward while the FX sets her more into the seat. They were kind enough to even let us take one for the day to ride in it. She loved it and even made a run in it for the youth finals. We ordered the FX the next day and she's on pins and needles til it comes in. It will fit all three of our horses and I'm REALLY glad about that.

So if your horse fits an 8" gullet in the Crown C would it take the same in the FX3 or do they fit different? Particularly on a really round backed horse?
