I've gotten my horse trailed acid washed once before 3 years ago, on the "shiny" aluminum part, and it just looked fantastic afterward. Since it's looking not-so-shiny anymore so I'll probably take it to my guy and have him do it again for me. But I was wondering if there is any specific "wash" that can be done for the painted (white) aluminum? It has that weird "grime" feel to it and it doesn't seem to come off even if I get the water hose and put some elbow grease into it.

Just wondering if that is the way it is, or if there is something I can do?? I did a search on BHW but couldn't really find an answer.

My trailer is a 2003 Exiss gooseneck and I bought it used 3 years ago.

This stuff works great!

Click on products and then to Black Streak remover. It will get your white on your trailer back to a hard slick shine.

Test a small spot first.  I have 2001 Sooner and it had spent a few years parked under the trees in it's earlier days.  A couple of years ago I got a bottle of this stuff, fixed up a bucket of it and told my girls to start scrubbing.  I walked back around the trailer and they had scrubbed about 50% of the paint off the left front.  It was getting real shiny, unfortunately it was shiny silver, not shiny white.  I have the most disgusting looking trailer on the road!

You can re-paint the white. After many years I have streaks where the paint is pretty much gone and that is what I'm going to do this winter.

Where are you having it painted?  I've talked to two dealers.  One said the painting didn't hold too well and he wouldn't recommend it.  The other said it would be cheaper just to replace the skin panels, around $2500 for a 3H BP.

I just used stuff called Purple Power.  My husband sprayed it on and used a waxing sponge to scrub (didn't take much elbow grease at all).  This stuff was amazing.  It took all the black streaks off instantly.  After we did that we waxed it.  My trailer is 12 years old and looks unbelieveable.

I wash my truck and trailer with Dawn. It seems to work as well if not better than any of the vehicle soaps I have bought. The only problem I have is my trailer is so stained from all the gravel we drive on. :( I had a bottle of fireplace cleaner in my house (it came with the house...haha) and I was desperate to try anything to get it white again instead of yellow and that stuff worked! It was the only thing I have ever tried that has worked. It didn't go very far...lol but it worked. Now I just need to find where to buy it. I have tried that RV black streak remover and that did absolutely nothing for me. No better than just a bucket of warm water and Dawn.

I'm going to do it myself.
I would actually prefer to get it down to the aluminum and not paint it at all. I hate the painted aluminum.

I drove 70 miles to a Blue Beacon and my truck and trailer. They were in a big hurry to get everyone in and out and when I stopped at a Walmart I wanted to puke. The white on the trailer came off with my hand and they never washed my tailgate. Never again. I can do a better job.
