Location: Where the nostricles are ginormous! | Have a colt that was born this year that had super tight tendons in the front. Vet that bred the mare back saw him and said he'd most likely stretch out and straighten out. He has some, but still not enough. I wish I would have known about the oxytetracycline approach when he was born but he's almost four months old now. His heels look contracted already and his hooves are starting to dish. He's a real tall, big, long legged colt. How many of you have had the procedure done successfully and still have a sound horse? |

| My current gelding had it done but not until he was 2 which I think was a big mistake. He still has some conformational issues and wears corrective shoes to help. he did tear some scar tissue once and had some time off but he's holding up pretty well. He's 12, 16.2, 2d/3d gelding. |

| We have done the surgery once. I can't remember exactly how old he was, but he was still on the mare so I'm thinking a couple of months. We also thought he would straighten on his own so did not do the oxytetracyline right away. We went ahead and tried it with our local vet prior to taking him to the vet for surgery with no results. Had we not done the surgery the colt would not have been able to do much of anything because of how contracted he was. He straightened back to normal. This colt was very large and growing fast. We opted to wean early and decrease his nutrition in an attempt to slow him down and prevent further problems. |

Location: the other T-town, Oklahoma | Have both legs done on my then 16 week old filly for contracted tendons. She limped going into the vet and has not taken a lame step since. I am so glad I did the surgery when I did. She has no scarring, no discolored hair growth. I asked the vet about performace career since we rope and barrel race. He told me no worries, there are lots of horses competive on the track, hunter/jumpers and rodeo performance horses. She is now 4 and has never taken a lame step since her surgery. I had mine done at Oakridge in Edmond. |

| Great success for us! The younger the better. Our filly is now 3 1/2 yrs now & you can't tell which foot was club. |
