Shoe Boils and what to do.....

I've never dealt with a shoe boil before!! My 10yr old has had one since july. I'm so over it!!! Vet didn't recommend drainage due to flies and possible infection. It's smaller in size but still there. I've been off of him because I didn't want my foot hitting it causing any other problems. Another wasted season......twiddling my thumbs till my back up filly arrives!!

I put bell boots on my mare while she was in the stall, kept her bedding deep, and would rub liniment or poultice on it.

My mare developed a shoe boil from hitting and getting on top of a barrel. I massaged it with liniment for a week-nothing. The vet drained it and put some steroids in it. Draining it greatly reduced the size. I also had her wearing a shoe boil boot. It took about a month after draining it, but now you can't tell she had one. After the length of time on yours I don't know that an injection of steroids would do any good.
