| I have a gelding who typically runs in the 1D, over the past 4-5 months, his attitude has completely changed, he seems dull and lethargic and almost like he can't stand to be ridden, he is normally a bubbly, loves to be with you type horse and now he just kind of there, doesnt seem happy or to feel well. He started to sporadically run down the fence at the first barrel, not every run, just some runs, some runs he is fine. He isnt clocking like he used to, we have gone from 1D to bottom of the 2D top of the 3D. He is nervous to ride at home, he will walk fine all day but as soon as you star to trot or anything more, he starts chewing, chomping his teeth together and foaming at the mouth. Her in the last 2 weeks, he has started not wanting to bend right, he will go left all ay long, but when I ask for his nose to the right and to move over, he straightens his neck, gets stiff and flat won't do it, starts grinding his teeth and flipping out. He has even reared to avoid it which isnt him at all. Been to 3 vets, one did his hocks, one did his stifles and the other did his teeth, yet here we are again, same problems. I have quit running the horse because something is obviously wrong and I refuse to run him miserable. I am just frustrated and looking for help. I have been told maybe ulcers?? Has anyone else experienced these type of symptoms with ulcers?? And just a disclosure, these vets I have used are GOOD vets, not local yocals, I guess I could go back to one and have him scoped, but just wondering if it is better to just treat for them and see what happens?? | |

Location: Beggs, OK | Sounds more like a soft tissue injury. Pain will cause ulcers, so that's definitely a possibility, but healing the ulcers won't fix the underlying problem. He is hurt somewhere. | |

| i had the exact problem with a head horse. His main thing was attitude changes, grinding teeth and rearing in box. I treated him myself with omeprazole. Complete different horse in one day. It was amazing. He had been like this all summer.

Location: South Dakota | I've had somewhat similiar problems with my horse lately. He's always been kinda lazy at home but can get really excited at a barrel race or even just moving cows. It always seemed like he was excited cause he wanted to do it but lately he has been rearing and not wanting to go in to the arena. And he is just super nervous. Warming up, I can lope circles to the left but he gets really hopped up if I try to lope to the right. And yet at home he is still his calm old self. | |
