| We have found a great deal on an early 2000's model LQ horse trailer. We will begin the buying process tomorrow. The trailer is in great shape, although the upholstery and a few other details are a bit dated. Who here has updated a LQ trailer? I would love to see pics or get tips from any of you who have. Share with me :)

 Go For It!
Location: Texas | I am about to do mine! I already pulled out the cabinets in the nose and put new carpet up there... just waiting till winter to do the big stuff. I'm going to get a flex steel sofa to replace the existing one (which is nice, but I'm ready for a change) and I'm going to remove some cabinets and make a corner sitting area in their place. I'm also planning on replacing the flooring and trying to brighten things up in there. I want a different sink and counter too. I have a double sink but would prefer a big single size.
I'm excited to get started!

| Like you, I am excited about this project also :) I am thinking of staining the cabinets, applying a pretty counter top, adding a copper backsplash, maybe installing some rope lights around the perameter of the roof, possibly covering the roof in some sort of pretty material, and updating the upholstery around the windows and on the couch. Where can you find the right size sink for projects like this? Mine too is a double and I would prefer a single. Youll have to post pics when you make some progress. :) |

| join horse trailer conversion on fb, tons of stuff. i would look at staining cabinets, changing drawer pulls, and re upholstering couch. You could also look at some backdrop ideas or cost effiecient counter updates. saw some really cool things online where people do a paint that looks like granite and isnt too expensive. |

| I love that FB group, so many creative people!
My only concern though is making sure that you know how much what you are putting in weighs and how you're distributing the weight. Since you're starting with old LQ trailers that makes me feel a bit better about it.
I see people on that group all the time finishing out tack rooms and cramming a LOT of stuff into small spaces and wonder if they've done the math on weight, if a trailer built to have a 4' short wall tack room is built on axles to support the extra weight of home made LQ interiors. (I honestly have no idea on this, but it always makes me wonder, especially when people start using heavy plywood, putting in big water tanks, etc etc).
I'm casually looking at a trailer that's been modified from a 4 horse to a 2 horse to add a longer LQ and it's a homemade LQ. I told the guy I'm very interested because it's nicely done and a great price but would really prefer to know the actual empty weight vs the GVWR before I drive 2 hours to look, because the first thing i'll want to do is go drive it over scales and get a weight on it. |
