I need the good, the bad, and the ugly on the horse scene in Anchorage area of Alaska. We may have to move there in the next month or so and be there for a couple years. Can anyone tell me what it's like owning horses in that area? At this point we are thinking of buying a home so odds are my mare will be on site with me. On the off chance we rent, she may have to be boarded. I am really hoping we don't go that route as I haven't boarded a horse out in 20 years and I didn't care for it then.

Now for the move part itself. Is it better to haul them through Canada and over? Or is it better to send them on a barge? We also have one large dog, three cats, and potentially our three chickens going with us too.

I have no idea as I've never even been to Alaska but here's an article I came across not too long ago. I know the area she lives in is about 6 hours away from where you'll land but it still gives some idea.

I am getting the not valid member for her. Is she potentially not around here anymore, or is the screen name spelled a little different?
