| When I was nine, my family ,moved over to Odessa. I wore coke bottle end glasses, and was very insecure . My best friend was my sister Kay. It was a lonely time for me, an awkward phase that lasts until I went to high school. I got contact lenses, I had few friends at school, outside school I rode race horses, so nothing in common with other girls. I guess you would say I basically a loner still in society, yet I don't feel alone anymore , because my relationship with Jesus. I've learned that part of what it means to follow Jesus is to love others. It's not optional, Jesus says " you must love one another."
Sometimes people hurt and disappoint us. Friendship is wonderful, but sometimes challenging. But Jesus says, love anyway. And then, sends people to us.
In The Four Loves, C. S Lewis wrote, " For a Christian , there are, strictly speaking, no chances. A secretly Master of the Cermemonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples , " ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you., can truly say to a group of Christian friends. " You have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another.
Over the years, Jesus has led me to friends. He's chosen for me, though I might not have chosen them for myself. These friendships bring both joy and pain. But they have formed me spiritually. They have provided a place for me to obey Jesus' command to love him by loving others.
If you feel lonely, consider that others may also need a friend. Take a step to build a new Friendship or deepen an exiting one.
John 13:34-35. A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loves you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.
Father God, guide me today to do all things to being glory and honor to You AMEN
Have a Blessed Day, you are not alone, God loves you and so do I!

I was even more shy then and was the 5'11 horse-obsessed girl with frizzy hair and glasses and did not make friends easily. I remember crying myself to sleep many nights because I was so alone. The older I get the more I learn not to rely on people for happiness but on the Lord first, and my animals and family second. I don't feel lonely anymore. I stopped caring so much about making friends and ultimately being let down when they didn't seem to reciprocate my friendship. A few weeks ago out of the blue a friend from work that I hadn't seen in months contacted me on Facebook. We've been hanging out together a lot and we've grown closer than ever before. I'm so happy to have him back in my life. I have no idea where this friendship will go but I am enjoying it and very thankful.
