I was told I should consider a stallion. I do like him, but hes got some smilar breeding to my mare.
One stallion is my mares paternal grand father
same stallion is the studs maternal grandfather as well as his paternal great grandfather.

There is also a same great /great great grand father (whom my mare has twice and him once)

Now Im cerious .....
thoes who are really educated in breeding like this, what do you consider and why? I would like to understand this more.

I understand there are strong feeling on each side if this, but Id really like to learn and understand this, there are some breeders that do incredibly well with line breeding.

I already have her 2016 date planed, but I have become very intrested in the subject.

I think if the horse would be on the foals paper 2x or more, they are too close. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.

For me it really depends on the bloodline. Some do fine with being stacked. Others....a little goes a long way and I don't want them in a pedigree more than once.

The TB people have been linebreeding and inbreeding for centuries. They are obviously very successful at it. The key is to bring in a sire who was a great producer. You dont want to tap into some horse just because. The sires you go back to for a second or third dose are those exceptional individuals. Also, they believe and it is scientifically proven that certain traits are passed on the x chromosome, and certain on the y. Thus the practice of bringing in one exceptional sire by his sons, and a dose via his daughters. This is called sex balancing. Then for a third formula, is using full siblings. This is called the sibling factor. One example would be to use say a daughter of Frenchmans Fabulous by Frenchmans Guy, and breed her to French Streaktovegas, by A Streak Of Fling, out of Frenchmans Guys full sister.

If you really and trully want to know and the amount of knowledge and doors opened will amaze you, go to google and type in Frederico Tesio. He is/was the most influential breeder of TB race horses the world has ever known, and his influence is still HUGE today with the horses he bred. Studying him will take you places you never imagined.

And although this site is talking about sport horses, they have been following Tesio's breeding principles and have gone indepth with easy to read and understand and put it into a readers digest version. Alot of links listed also to wind you down the path.  www.sport-horse-breeder.com/breeding-principles.html
