I started wearing one consistently after I had my daughter and started riding again. I'd ride during naptime and bring the video monitor and I was generally home alone. I think we all know that crap happens, and I didn't want crap to happen and risk lying unconscious for whatever length of time while my daughter slept inside by herself. The idea of her waking up and no one coming to get her until I got help made me sick. So, I started wearing a helmet. Maybe it's a stupid reason, but now I'm just used to it and I feel rather naked without it.

To me its like wearing a seat belt.I cant imagine not wearing it. 2 years ago one of my horses spooked and spun around flinging me off my head hit a tree but I was ok as I did have my helmet on I was slightly dazed for a few minutes but was able to get up and walk home.
