My wife got some new supplement for her barrel horse.  He is a little finicky anyway, but this stuff smells fishy and he won't eat it.  She tried giving it to him orally with a big syringe with oil and honey and he really did not like that!
We have successfully given many meds and supplements over the years but this one is a stumper!  Thank you in advance!  Have a great weekend!

It is some type of joint supplement that looks like little black BBs.  He really gave her the stink eye after she tried to give it to him orally this morning!

Sometimes the soaked alfalfa is strong enough to cover it up, one of our stallions was on fish oil and yuck lol but that helped it alot

Hummm, little black BB's, maybe what Bibs suggested might work. But this could be a tough one , is it hard or soft? I would just mix it into the feed for a few days and see if the horse will get used to it, I have a gelding not like something new that I ad but after a few days he would start eating it, sometimes I would see a bit left over at the bottom of his feeder and since there was some left over I would not add any supplement to the next feeding to see if he would finish it and it would be gone so then I would add it again at the next feeding.Β

I use applesauce and molasses as well. If he still won't eat it, then I cut the top off a syringe, mix the meds in applesauce and molasses, pack it in the syringe and shoot it in the mouth like paste dewormer.

Just because it is a new bag does not mean that it is not bad.

I suggest you get something the horse will eat. From years of experience in feeding horses.
