   Location: Texas | cheryl makofka - 2015-11-26 8:02 PM With joint infections Have the vet do a minimum 4 litre flush of the joint, this flushes out most of the bacteria, most of the proteins that cause cellular degeneration, and reduces inflammation. have the vet inject an antibiotic directly into the joint leave it there a few days. Then complete another flush, then inject only HA into the joint. While doing this Iv antibiotics, antiinflammtories I had a horse who had 2 infected joints from a **** poor vet, my vet was out of the country for 2 weeks, and we did the above when he returned and the horse came back as sound as before (no drugs injections every 3-6 months, no lamness, could pass flexion tests)
Thank you for the information! We did flush the joint last night and have him on IV antibiotics.. He injected something into the joint but I can't remember exactly what all was done, I was pretty upset.
