I've rode in a cutter it was awesome, i recently looked into getting a barrel saddle what i liked was $5100. I couldn't justify spending that much the horse i needed it for can't use a semi quarter horse tree which all my saddles were , he is t even running yet i was afraid he wouldn't pan out. And I'd have a fortune in a saddl that i don't know how the resale would be they send you a mold kit and build it to fit your horse. I went with the new cutter barrel cross that allenranch is building i have had four of his saddles and liked all of them, they resell good. Let me know what you decide.

Ride it and I bet you'll save $ to get one. The open shoulder is awesome for a horse that loves to drop and turn. Or if your spinning a horse lots.

They hold their resale value in the cutter styles for sure. They're everywhere here around the Fort Worth area for a very pretty penny. Some people have even sold "custom" custters for the same price as retail around my area. People can't seem to get enough of them here.
We got one in on trade here at the shop and literally sold it ten minutes later and the guy paid full mark up. Didn't even bat an eye or try and bargain with us on price like we expect all saddle customers to do. Guy stood and watched us clean and oil it to make sure his saddle wouldn't go anywhere LOL and a guy tried to buy it while we were cleaning it up!!!
I thought it was crazy!!!

We have a cutter and I love it! It's so comfortable. I've never used it for barrels though so I'm not sure how it'd be that way.

People either love his cutting saddle or they hate them.
I personally don't care much for them in reference to cutting saddles but It's all personal opinion.
Around here people don't think much of a Bob Marshal unless it's a barrel saddle just because they have more options from bigger names that have more popular cutting saddles with higher quality leather and better resale value. BM cutters are nice and sought after by the people that care for them, but if I personally had a choice between a BM Cutter and a Roo I'd get a Roo every time simply because I could ride in it for a year and sell it for what I paid for it to an individual. Even if I sold a used Roo to a saddle shop for a trade in credit I would still get a better trade in value than if I was to sell a BM to an individual.
Roo Hides leather is a better quality than BM in my own personal opinion as well.
I ride a 1980 Billy Cook Barrel currently simply because I can't afford anything better. But a Roo cutter is def. on my list for saving for. It's worth it.
