I have a gelding who is narrow in the chest and shoulders but has a prett flat wide back. He's hip high so I need something to help me not feel like I'm going to pitch over the front. I had a tree sent from coats but I feel like once the saddle was built it sat too down hill on the horse. How do th Jeff smith saddles fit?

Maybe Herbie will come on here and help you out, she has a Jeff Smith saddle that she really likes, I think hers is on a cutting tree. She knows quite a bit about these saddles.

I have a Jeff Smith cutter, I love it.
My horses are all pretty thick and stout, but I did set it on my two year old whos pretty narrow chested and it sits on him pretty good. I feel its a very well made balanced saddle, sits a horse really nice.

I'm on my phone and it's hard for me to post in here from it. I do love my JS saddle. It is a cutting saddle I had cut down to look like a barrel saddle. I was having the same problem on my hip high horse and yes, it definitely will keep you more set back. If you want to pm me your number I can send pics via text and give more information about how I think it would fit. I had 3 of these, have sold ine, and have considered selling one more and having another one built. Now that my gelding is healthy, he has gotten very wide through the back and I would get him one custom made in a bit wider tree, but he's a monster now as far as size and bloom. These saddles fit all my younger, narrower made horses just fine.
