I need some tips on sitting a horse that leaves a barrel hard.  He has the thing where he plants his inside foot about 3/4 of the way around the barrel and pushes off hard.  I have never rode a horse that leaves a barrel that way and it is popping me up and leaving me behind.  I hope that makes sense  Really it is more horse than I am use to.

Best thing to do is beat him out of the turn.  If you wait for him to take you with him you will be behind.  Sit for the turn and as soon as he commits move forward and be waiting on him before he leaves.

Yes, I was going to ask why you wanted to be sitting leaving. You should be up over your horse waiting for him to push into your seat.  Does that make sense?  When your leaving a barrel, you should be pulling your body forward and looking to the next barrel.

Exactly what they said before. You know he is going to come off of it hard so look up, use your legs and get forward. When you're working slow think about it every time, at every gait. Make yourself think about it so much that you don't have to think about it anymore it's just a habit to get forward?
