Location: Nor Cal | This is probably a long shot - Does anyone know of a LEGIT work from home position? (Besides direct sales like scentsy, plexus, etc). I am due in late March with our first baby, and I am contemplating on going back to work or not. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area where childcare costs are outrageous, and my current job is amazing, I love the company and the people I work with but I would basically be working for free.

| What type of work do you do now? Bookkeeping for business can be done at home, you'll have to by the software they use(unfortunately a lot of people use QuickBooks, which I do not like at all but..) Childcare, if you have friends that have small children you can watch them. Board a few horses if you have the space, that is at least income every month. Transcribe for doctors. |

Location: Nor Cal | I am a project coordinator (facilities maintenance) for the Hertz Corporation (rental car company). I live in military housing and due to permits/licenses needed (for liability reasons) I can't do childcare. |

| I know an RN who works at home doing some insurance related work. I think she talks to patients. I had inquired about it for after graduation and she said there's all kinds of positions within whatever company she works for where you don't have to be a nurse, it's pretty diverse. Maybe you could look into something like that? I can't recall the company at the moment, but I can look into it. She lives in VA. |

| Check out upwork.com. If you have any sort of skills that could be freelanced (or want to learn some) it is a great way to earn some extra cash. Virtual assistants are becoming a really hot thing. There are also tons of Facebook groups that you can join to learn about the kinds of things business owners are needing. If you are a good writer you could do some freelance work for bloggers or websites.
Also, like someone else mentioned, bookkeeping is something you can do from home. That will take a fair amount of learning though if you're not already involved in it. You can get certifications in Quickbooks, and Xero is becoming a popular accounting software.
If you have a hobby that could be made into a business, you could make some extra cash that way. Selling on Etsy/ebay/Amazon could be profitable if you do it correctly. |

Location: Bandera, TX | There are work from home jobs avaialble. It just all depends on your skill set. I have been working from home for the last 10 years and three different companies. Try searching on LInkedIn Jobs for 'remote" or "home office".
However, full time work from home jobs do require you to be there during work hours. I can't just run off and go ride because the weather is nice. A colleague works from home as well and she put her kid in daycare so she won't be distracted by him and actually get the work done.

Location: OH-IO | Ive been looking into this too....I have a 9 month old...my first child. When I had him, It did not pay for me to go back to work due to the cost of childcare. I wouldnt even really be breaking even!
I have a medical work backround and have been looking for any kind of at home job, but its so hard these days to tell the differene between legit opportunities and scams! |

Location: So. California | Technology companies. Many, many employees work from home and you are living right in the middle of it all. Also, many of those technology companies provide in office day care services, along with a variety of other benefits. |

I worked for a large insurance company from home. This nurse probably does as well. With the technology available today, it doesn't matter where you 'sit', and it saves the company a ton of money in office space.
Like other's have said, depends on skill set, and most employers do expect you to work a set period of time. But that maybe early in the AM, then later in the evening when hubby is home and can help.
It's doable, and in my opinion it's the greatest thing ever....you should have seen my 'work clothes'!

| Google Alpine Access. I think it's alpine access.com. Or try Sykes. Alpine Access was bought by Sykes a few years ago.
It's a work at home platform for customer service. Some of their accounts are Ancestry, Yellow Pages, Xbox, Iwireless, etc. If you have a landline, hard wired computer system and can pass a background check then you should be able to be hired. |

Location: Phoenix | My friend works for Cigna and she works from home. She calls a lot of patients and talks to them about their coverage...can't remember exact job title. :/
Boyfriends mom is a coder for a hospital and she works from home.
I would be so torn leaving a job I liked but enough to work practically for free? Can you find a private party that watches children for hopefully less than a major daycare? |

Location: South Central Florida | Actually there are several very ligit companies now a days. I know 2 people that work from home with different companies Both do customer service via email and live chat They dont make but about $10 to $15 an hour but no fuel, cloths, lunch out it makes up for a lot. I will see if I can get the names of the companies. I actually interviewed for a work from home job for CitiBank, but my internet was too slow (Im very rural, only 3g available) but that sas about 2 years ago. |
