OK I have a question for everyone, my mare is eight years old and has never broke out in hives until this past October. She got her face caught on a bolt and ripped her whole face open. She damaged facial nerves it was a pretty bad wound. Three days after that happened she broke out in hives we thought it was just a reaction to the anabiotic's, so we took her off of them and she's gave her some Dex. The hives went away for about three weeks then came back again. I tried changing her bedding and her blankets and that did not make a difference the hives came back a third time. Then in December she went to Utah for a month for some training, she broke out four times while she was there. It was cold there and snow on the ground so there were no flies. She was on different hay there and no grain. I just got her back about two weeks ago, she just broke out again last night and bad the hives are huge. I'm going nuts trying to figure out what the heck is happening. My vet doesn't know either and I am taking her in next week for an allergy test. I don't know if I'm crazy but the only thing that changed in her life was her ripping her face open soon as that happen the hives have been nonstop, the metal that she ripped her face on is galvanized could she possibly have some sort of galvanized poisoning and her blood? Does anybody have any other ideas?
