Location: Cocoa, Florida | I had a mare that slipped getting out of trailer a few weeks ago, her back leg near the fetlock swelled up a little bit but she's never been lame on it, she gets a little stocked up when she's stalled on that leg ever since, I gave her a week off and rode a few days before my show yesterday, the morning of the show I gave her two scoops of bute just to help the swelling go down since we had a long haul. Have had the BOT quick wraps on her back legs and have poulticed it as well, anyway she bled for the first time after my run yesterday really bad, so I'm wondering if the bute induced the bleeding? She's never had any issues before, I'm familiar with bleeders I've owned a few before.
I gave her Yunnan Baiyao powder right after her bleed. |

| I have a bleeder and my vet has never said to not use bute. I have never heard of bute causing bleeding. |

Location: Canada | My guess is that the bute had little to do with it. If you had given it for long periods of time it may have a slight contribution. Much like if you are on regular pain med (Advil, tylenol, naproxen) you tend to bruise easier.
I would take steps to treat and assume she's a bleeder. |

Location: Piedmont, OK | A bleeder isnt that hard to manage imo.
Hopefully you have her on an antibiotic so she doesn't getan infection in her lungs. If you have a nebulizer or know someone with an equiresp that would be a huge help for her. I would put her on something like Animal Element Immune Key to boost her immune system and help her heal up.

Location: Cocoa, Florida | Well if you're me, you completely change their feeding program and give meds accordingly, everyone does it different I guess I was just getting away scotch free for a while not having to deal with one, I hate holding their water for two hours in the Florida summer especially since this horse is a big drinker. |

Location: In my own world | Well if bute is like aspirin, like a blood thinner, I could see where it would maybe make her bleed worse. My aunt is on blood thinners and got the flu here recently. She was throwing up and threw up blood. The doc said she ruptured a blood vessel in her esophagus and she bled a little |
